Muslims: Why Sharia Law

Book Summary

This series will eventually have eight volumes of a case study in Christian-Muslim relations. Each volume deals with a different aspect of these relations-violence, secularism, Muslim law and more from both Muslim and Christian perspectives. This volume is number six of the series and is third to present the Muslim voice. It explains why Muslims want to revive Muslim Law or Sharia. It is in line with their rejection of secularism. They are angry at how colonialism has consciously undermined their religion and has tried to replace it with what they consider a cheap and unrealistic secularism. Secularism is seen as the cause for the disintegration of Western culture. So why force it on others? Dr. Boer is an expert on colonialism and has lived in a Muslim environment for thirty years. This book and entire series is unique in that a Christian missionary tries to get into the heart of Muslims, to understand them sympathetically and, at times to go to bat for them. It is a serious challenge. About the Author Dr. Jan H. Boer (Ph.D.-Amsterdam) has worked in Nigeria for a total of thirty years. He has served the Institute of Church & Society, the Christian Health Association of Nigeria, the University of Jos, the Theological College of Northern Nigeria and the Christian Reformed Church of Nigeria.
