Book Summary
The writings of the early Church Fathers contain a myriad of spiritual gems for our enlightenment, meditation and edifi cation. Basil the Great, John Chrysostom, Gregory the Theologian and Cyril of Alexandria are merely a few of the Fathers that have left us with volumes of material on any conceivable topic. To cover all the topics and every issue that the Fathers, Saints and Orthodox Theologians have addressed is beyond the scope of this volume. Some of the issues, however, are covered - in the form of an anthology - to expose the ethos and spirituality that these holy men have off ered for the edification of our faith. The Triumphant Church: Selected Golden Nuggets from the Saints of the Eastern Orthodox Church is intended to share some of the profound thoughts that the saints have grappled with both in breadth and depth. It addresses some issues and then presents some contemplative thoughts from the plethora of gems of these holy men. The Saints included in this volume are from the Greek, Slavic, American tradition and include both early, middle and modern ages.
