Book Summary
For several years, the nuns of the Order of St. Helena, a monastic community in the Episcopal Church have been working on a revision of their Breviary. The primary goal of the revision is the opening up of the human vocabulary of prayer and the ways in which we name the Holy One. This version of the Psalter, based upon the translation of the Book of Common Prayer, softens the exclusive male Hebrew terminology for the Creator God and recasts texts to avoid the need for a he or she personal pronoun.
